Overdue post: You are UFO w/o the “fix” from the LTO: Jan 24, 2012 9:19 am

I’m sorry but someone has to say something about the corrupt system of the LTO (hindi naman siguro lahat pero meron talaga). The “argh” feeling came back to me when I recently visited LTO with my ate. 

If LTO was a physical body, it is sick from head to toe, to the bone? Imagine, from drug tests, eye exam, blood pressure, everything is fake. If Rizal was still alive, he’d probably be horrified and do a series about them (“LTO”, El filibusterismo- The Reign of Greed).

Outside, you’d see warning signs like “do not deal with fixers” but once you have entered the bldg. you’ll realize, “ah okay, do not deal with the fixers outside but deal with them inside”. 

When I first got my student license, the whole process was shocking. But then I realized, I can’t blame these people. They have families, they also want to earn some extra cash. But after a few years and finally got the chance to visit them again, the whole system is the same. Only that most of them got better taste now, Starbucks tumbler, Yellow Cab for lunch. Definitely nothing wrong with that but once you get stuck under the heat because more than one fixer is doing an excellent job inserting application after application (making the whole process slower) and you are outside seeing their every move, eating pizza in an air-conditioned room. Well, you would probably do more than what I’m doing now. 

How can the system change if the next generation sees the same thing over and over and over again? From where I am sitting, I can already see young “LTO” personnel, exposed with the whole corrupt system. 

Maybe if they can:

Invest in an automated machine that can automatically check the blood pressure, eyes sight, height, weight, etc (They have machines like that in Malaybalay, Bukidnon’s drugstore BTW for P5). Better yet, hire doctors, another good opportunity for employment. I’m sure if they can make a way to pocket a sum of money, I believe that the “LTO” can make a way to save for this project. It will really help. Would not it be better to base results on facts?
